Vietnam, Russia to step up culture cooperation

Vietnam and Russia set to further boost collaboration in art and culture from 2010 to 2012 after signing a cooperation programme in Hanoi on Feb. 23.
Vietnam and Russia set to further boost collaboration in art and culture from2010 to 2012 after signing a cooperation programme in Hanoi on Feb.23.

The agreement was signed between Vietnam ’s Minister of Culture,Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh and Russia ’s Culture Minister AlexanderAlexeevich Avdeyev as part of the agenda of the Russian ranking delegation ofculture officials in Vietnam from Feb. 22-24.

Under the programme,Vietnam and Russia will increase exchanges of information regarding national andinternational cultural activities taking place in both countries includingcelebrating Russian culture in Vietnam this year and a similar event honouringVietnamese culture in Russia in 2011, said Minister Hoang Tuan Anh.

Anhsaid that both sides will facilitate direct cooperation between libraries,museums, archive facilities, art educating agencies, theatres, etc. of bothnations in order to promote the study, restoration, preservation and promotionof cultural heritages.

Vietnam and Russia will exchange more regularlyexperts in music, theatre, circus and other traditional forms of art, headded.

According to Russian Minister of Culture Alexander AlexeevichAvdeyev, the Russian culture week in Vietnam scheduled to take place in Novemberthis year in Hanoi , Hue and Ho Chi Minh City will feature a myriad of culturalactivities including concerts, photo exhibitions and filmscreenings.

Russia will dispatch artists for many important eventsVietnam is set to organise this year, especially the 1,000 th birthday of ThangLong-Hanoi capital, he added.

On the same day, the visiting RussianMinister had a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung who confirms thegreat importance that Vietnam attaches to fortifying and developing culturalcooperation with Russia .

“Cultural cooperation is a critical foundationfor building on and developing the friendship between the two states,” PM Dungsaid, adding that the working visit of Minister Alekseevich will contribute toboosting the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two nations./.

On the morning of October 10, a ceremony was held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in Hanoi to launch a nationwide campaign encouraging regular physical exercise under the message “Everyone should choose at least one suitable sport to practise regularly”. This year, 30 contestants from 15 countries entered the competition, with five finalists set to compete on October 10 at Ballhaus Prinzenallee in Berlin. The programme also includes a gala concert, masterclasses and a guitar exhibition. Hanoi launches project to build cultural industry hub in Old Quarter

The project, covering about 3,862sqm. at 17 Nguyen Thien Thuat and 40 Thanh Ha, includes around 2,317sqm. of construction area. It will renovate existing structures, improve architecture and landscaping, upgrade technical infrastructure and create spaces for cultural, artistic and creative activities.
