Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre a symbol of bilateral relationship

Moscow (VNA) – Deputy Minister of NationalDefence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien on July 6 paid a courtesy visit to RussianDeputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko as part of the Vietnamese officer’s trip to the country.

Chien emphasised that the Vietnamese State andGovernment always attach great importance to consolidating and developing thetraditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia,with defence cooperation being a pillar of the bilateral relationship.

Notably, cooperation within the framework of theVietnam-Russia Tropical Centre has been seen as a symbol of the relationship,he continued.

For his part, Chernyshenko affirmed that Vietnam is along-term and reliable partner of Russia, saying the relationship is built onthe solid foundation of friendship and mutually beneficial traditionalcooperation.

Russia is interested in promoting cooperation invarious fields, especially in trade-investment, science-technology, education,and culture, the Deputy PM said.

He hailed activities of the Vietnam-Russia TropicalCentre, and expressed his belief that with its achievements and breakthroughsin scientific research, it will become a leading scientific research centre inthe region and the world.

On July 7, Chien, in his capacity as Chairman of theVietnamese Sub-Committee of the Inter-Governmental Joint Commission on theVietnam-Russia Tropical Centre, and Russian Deputy Minister of Science andHigher Education Konstantin Mogilevsky, Chairman of the Russian Sub-Committee,co-chaired a regular session of the commission.

On behalf of the Vietnamese President, Chien presentedthe Friendship Order to Aleksey Svichit, deputy director general on the Russianside of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre./.

Education-training sector preparing for strategic turning point: Minister

Ho Chi Minh City steps up law enforcement on fishing vessel monitoring system

Ho Chi Minh City has 4,449 fishing vessels, of them 4,301 equipped with VMS devices, making up 96.67%. Between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025, authorities found 1,729 cases of vessels losing VMS connection for six hours or more, issuing fines in 196 cases totalling nearly 6.6 billion VND (about 252,000 USD)
