Vientiane (VNA)
– Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army expressed his hope for receiving sounder collaboration in the search and repatriation of the remains of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Laos during war time.

Nghia delivered his wish at a meeting with Senior Lieutenant General Vilay Lakhamphong, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Director of the General Department of Politics of the Laos People’s Army in Vientiane on March 20 during his working visit to the country.

General Vilay affirmed that the relations between the Parties, State and armies of Laos and Vietnam are the rare solidarity and friendship in the world.

In 2017, Laos launched over 100 activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty and the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties with Vietnam, he said.

The campaign on the creation of literature and arts works among Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam was among the activities, he noted.

The general expressed his hope that the General Department of Politics of the two armies will take more diverse and practical activities in education-training, culture, and arts and conduct more visit exchanges in 2018, the year that marks the 70th founding anniversary of the Laos People’s Army.

For his part, general Nghia wished that the General Department of Politics of the two armies will step up cooperation in various realms, such as personnel training, and the sharing of experience in Party and grassroots political system building work.

He noted that army newspapers in Vietnam will increase publications popularizing the 70th founding anniversary of the Lao People’s Army, including a special column in Lao language of the Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army) newspaper.-VNA
