Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien made the statement in her opening speech at a seminar on Public-Private cooperation in health care in Hanoi on December 6.

The event drew more than 160 delegates from Vietnam ’s health sector and representatives from the Embassy of the United States.

The Health Minister appealed for greater investment from both domestic and overseas businesses, including US enterprises.

According to the Institute for Health Care Strategy and Policy , Vietnam has mobilised over 3,200 billion VND (152 million USD) from both public and private sources for investment in the health sector, focusing on hospitals under the Health Ministry and in Ho Chi Minh City .

Several pilot projects following the Public-Private model, have been carried out, including banks that have invested in building hospitals, and businesses supplying high-technology medical equipment for public hospitals.-VNA
