At the forum (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – A forum on smart energy andoptimization of power structure in Vietnam with flexible solutions was held bythe Finnish Embassy in Vietnam and Wartsila Group in Hanoi on August 29.
Addressing the event, Finnish Ambassador Kari Kahilouto said his country wantsto partner with Vietnam in producing clean and smart energy.
The Vietnamese Government has implemented a very ambitious policy to developrenewable energy with its inherent potential, and in the future Vietnam willhave more opportunities to develop its solar, wind, biomass and waste sources,he noted.
Jaakko Eskola, Chairman and General Director of Wartsila,said Vietnam has great potential for developing wind and solar power.
According Jaakko, production costs of solar and wind power and storage battery havenow decreased significantly and it is forecast that these will continue to bedown in the near future.
Vietnam has set to produce 2,000MW of wind power and 4,000MW of solar power by2025, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT),
Nguyen Manh Cuong from the Energy Institute under the MoIT said by 2030-2035,renewable energy proportion can account for between 50-80 percent of Vietnam’stotal energy productivity.
Participants said that Vietnam needs to have new policies on renewable energydevelopment and those to attract more investment to the field. -VNA
