Vietnam has sufficient measles vaccine in stock to serve its own expanded immunisation programme, affirmed a senior health official.

Deputy Health Minister Cao Minh Quang delivered the news to a meeting of the Coordinating Committee, held in Hanoi on Nov. 13, for a project titled “Improving Vietnam’s measles vaccine producing capacity”.

Thanks to the project, which was launched nearly four years ago, high-quality measles vaccine has now been produced by the Centre for Research and Production of Vaccines and Biological Products (POLYVAC).

Following this success, POLYVAC is embarking on researching and then producing Rubella vaccine for the nation.
It also plans to produce combined vaccines, like measles-rubella and mumps-measles-rubella vaccines and study the production of vaccines for the A/H5N1 and A/H1N1 flues./.
