As many as 78,664 workers were sent abroad in the first 11 months of this year, equivalent to 92.5 percent of the yearly target, the Overseas Worker Management Department reported.

According to the department, traditional markets such as Taiwan, Japan and Malaysia were still major destinations for Vietnamese workers. Added to this, the number of workers sent to Laos and Cambodia doubled, giving a hope for fulfilling the year’s target.

In particular, the country managed to resume the sending of workers to the Republic of Korea following a suspension since early this year, with 697 labourers returning to the RoK in November.

The Department has taken measures to tighten management of labour export activities, sanctioned and suspended the operation of 14 businesses in the field.-VNA
