Vietnam’s shuttlecock team has won two gold and one silver medals at the ongoing world shuttlecock championship in Italy.

In the men’s doubles event, Nguyen Anh Tuan and Le Thanh Tuan beat a Chinese duo 2-0 in the final to win the first gold medal for the country.

The second gold medal was carried off by Hoang Thi Tra My and Nguyen Thi Dao in the women’s doubles. My and Dao also beat the Chinese pair in the final.

In the mixed doubles event, Vietnamese players Vu Tien Hung and Nguyen Thi Thuy Tien lost to the Chinese pair and had to settle for a silver medal.

Dinh Van Duc and Nguyen Thi Thanh are playing well in the men’s and women’s singles events. Both won all group matches to enter the knockout stage.

The tournament ends on September 5.

Vietnam has been the most successful country at the world shuttlecock championship and has come in first place in at every of seven editions of the tournament.

In the last edition in 2013, Vietnam finished first with four gold and three silver medals.-VNA
