Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s six-month participation in the World Expo Osaka 2025 from April 13 to October 13, together with the celebration of Vietnam National Day, is opening new opportunities for the country.
Through a wide range of traditional performances, handicraft displays, culinary experiences, and technological showcases, Vietnam has introduced its people, culture, and heritage to international friends.
The event offers visitors a panoramic view of a modern Vietnam with significant achievements, while also enhancing trade, investment, and tourism prospects.
Operated by the Department of International Cooperation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Pavilion at EXPO Osaka 2025 serves as a hub to share stories of national pride. Each art programme has been meticulously prepared to present a culturally rich, creative, and globally integrated Vietnam at this world-class event.
On the Vietnam National Day event held on September 9, the country staged seven art performances, including two for diplomatic audiences and five for overseas Vietnamese, Japanese citizens, and international visitors.
According to the organisers, the programme was designed to create a sense of both familiarity and modernity, blending national identity with contemporary elements.
As a global platform for cultural exchange, EXPO Osaka 2025 enables participating nations to showcase their most distinctive values. Vietnamese artists, athletes, and performers worked closely with Japanese partners to deliver well-curated programmes.
The artistic ensembles not only presented visually captivating shows but also conveyed a strong message of a creative, dynamic Vietnam ready to contribute to shared global values. Through cultural expressions, Vietnam appeared vibrant, authentic, and deeply rooted in tradition in the eyes of international friends.
Inspiring highlights
Following the expo’s theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” the Vietnam Pavilion has already attracted around 700,000 visitors in just over four months, with a record 12,578 visitors in a single day.
Divided into three main zones—tradition, modernity, and the future—the pavilion combines contemporary exhibition methods with technology to tell compelling stories about Vietnam. It promotes the country as a model that harmonises sustainable economic growth with cultural heritage, social equity, and environmental protection.
One of the pavilion’s most popular attractions is the daily water puppet and traditional music shows, performed four times each day. Additionally, outdoor stages across the EXPO grounds host Vietnamese performances and cultural exchanges with pavilions from the US, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Beyond its regular programmes, the Vietnam Pavilion has partnered with ministries, agencies, and localities to host events promoting Vietnamese culture, introducing regional potential, and fostering opportunities for trade and investment between Vietnamese and international businesses.
The activities have drawn wide media coverage at home and abroad, with major Japanese outlets such as Asahi and NHK reporting extensively. The pavilion has also maintained a strong presence on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Influencers, including Japanese YouTuber Issei with nearly 70 million followers, have featured the pavilion in their content.
In the coming time, the Vietnam Pavilion will continue to present large-scale cultural programmes showcasing creativity and the essence of Vietnamese heritage. Its performances will highlight the harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary arts, affirming Vietnam’s position as a country of peace, innovation, dynamism, and deep international integration./.
