A seminar focusing on Vietnamese and Singaporean cooperation in the application of e-government technology was held in Hanoi on March 10.

An official from the International Enterprise Singapore said that his country has launched six IT development programmes and strategies over the last 25 years, adding that Singapore has implemented three general plans to develop its e-government system.

According to a representative of the Vietnam IT Application Department, the Vietnamese government is currently launching several programmes and projects to develop the country’s e-government capacity, such as digitising all of the government’s management tasks and activities by 2010, and establishing an integrated information system to study national databases, as well as launching a series of web-based public services by 2015.

The seminar was co-organised by the Vietnam Software Association (VSA) and the Singapore Information Technology Association (SITA).

On this occasion, the VSA and SITA also signed a memorandum of understanding, in preparation for a collaboration between businesses from the two nations to promote e-government application in Vietnam./.
