Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association (VSFA) marked its 10th anniversary in Hanoi on November 29.
Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu highlighted the association’s significant contributions since its establishment in 2014, a year after the two countries elevated their ties to a Strategic Partnership. Over the past decade, Singapore has become Vietnam’s second-largest investor and fourth-largest trading partner in ASEAN. Notably, the 18 Vietnam-Singapore Industrial parks have played a crucial role in export growth and value creation, with VSFA’s efforts integral to this success.
The official attributed the association’s achievements to visionary leadership, a community-focused approach, and its ability to mobilise resources from diverse partners. He encouraged the VSFA to lead new strategic initiatives in green and digital connectivity, fostering innovative cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore.
Donald Tsang, Singapore's Chargé d'Affaires in Vietnam, commended the VSFA’s role in deepening the bilateral strategic partnership through people-to-people connections. He affirmed Singapore’s commitment to supporting it in advancing ties between the two nations in a new era.
VSFA Chairman Vu Viet Ngoan emphasised the association’s focus on strengthening economic and cultural understanding between the two nations.
Since its inception, the association has launched impactful initiatives, promoting economic collaboration and building a robust network that includes diplomatic agencies, business associations, and social organisations in both countries. Notable efforts include charity projects, innovation training for social enterprises, and support for underprivileged groups, earning the association recognition from both governments.
On this occasion, the VSFA was honored with a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for its outstanding contributions from 2019 to 2023, further solidifying its role as a bridge between Vietnam and Singapore./.
