Vietnam-South Africa trade to hit 875 million USD

Two-way trade between Vietnam and South Africa is expected to reach 875 million USD in 2013, up nearly 17 percent from the previous year.

Of the sum, export revenue stands at 760 million USD and import value, 115 million USD, respectively.

Vietnam’smajor export items to South Africa – the country’s largest tradepartner in Africa include footwear, garment and textiles, rubber, rice,coffee, pepper, cashew nuts, and chemicals.

Over the past two years, mobile phones have made significant contributions to the country’s export turnover to South Africa.

Meanwhile,South Africa mainly ships metal, chemicals and materials in service ofthe garment and textile and footwear industries to Vietnam.

Theoutcomes mirror the two Governments’ resolve and efforts to promotetheir all-round cooperation, especially economic and trade ties.

Accordingto Vietnamese Commercial Counselor in South Africa Le Kinh Thang, thetwo countries still boast a lot of potential for trade cooperation,suggesting them pay more attention to business environment andcommercial competitiveness.

He called on Vietnamese businessesto access the South African market in order to explore the country’sdemands, considering the organisation of trade fairs as the mosteffective way to realise such efforts.-VNA

According to the Vietnam Customs data, bilateral trade hit 253.1 billion USD in the first nine months of this year, up 37.6% annually. Vietnam’s exports to China rose 32.9% to 65.8 billion USD while imports climbed 39.3% to 187.3 billion USD. China accounted for around 41.3% of Vietnam’s imports and 15.2% of its total exports.

Vietjet launches Prague–Hanoi route

Vietjet Air operates the Prague–Hanoi route twice a week using Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a capacity of 377 passengers. Flights depart Prague at 8:55 p.m. every Tuesday and Saturday and arrive in Hanoi at 4:20 p.m. the following day, local time. In the opposite direction, flights leave Hanoi at 8:25 a.m. and arrive in Prague at 6:55 p.m. The route includes a stop in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
