Tokyo (VNA) – An art programme entitled “2017 Vietnam Spring Festival in Sakai” took place in Sakai city of Japan’s Osaka on January 17.

Nearly 400 overseas Vietnamese and Japanese in Osaka were charmed with special quan ho (love duet) singing, traditional music instrument performances and beautiful dances by artists from the Hanoi-based Thang Long Song, Music and Dance Theatre.

Especially, Vietnamese artists presented the melodies of Japan’s famous songs on Vietnam’s traditional music instruments, leaving deep impressions on locals.

Speaking at the event, Tran Duc Binh, Vietnamese Consul General to Osaka, thanked the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and artists for giving the Vietnamese community here such interesting art performances.

Sakai Mayor Osami Takeyama spoke highly of the programme, saying that it helps Japanese people better their understanding of Vietnam, thus further tightening the friendship and attachment between the two countries as well as between Vietnam and Sakai city and Osaka.

The annual programme, the second of its kind held in Osaka on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet), aims to introduce Japanese people to the special cultural identities as well as traditional and contemporary arts of Vietnam.-VNA
