The joint Vietnam-Turkey economic and trade committee meeting in Hanoi on February 23 ended up with its minutes being signed to boost comprehensive ties from diplomacy to climate change.
The Minutes, signed by Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc, also covered trade, industry, agriculture, petrol, energy, investment, finance, culture, tourism and the environment.
Both agreed to share information and their experiences in socio-economic management and development encourage enterprises to take part in trade fairs and exhibitions as well as launch campaigns to promote investment and tourism in each others countries.
Hoang called for an early deployment of the minutes of the meeting and emphasised on possibly expanding the cooperation with more effort being made by the relevant agencies and organisations.
On the same day, the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ) and the Turkish Standards Institute signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in standardisation..
On the occasion, executives from 40 Turkish businesses came to Vietnam to conduct market surveys.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that Turkey is an important partner and the largest importer of Vietnamese goods in West Asia . The two-way trade revenue reached 636 million USD in 2010, of which Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus. It is expected to increase to 1 billion USD in 2011./.
