Vietnam strives to link regional power systems

Ofthe projects, four have gone into operation, three are underconstruction and eight are in the making with feasibility studiesalready underway.

The ministry said the operating plants haveensured the stable electricity supply of the regional power system aswell as increased its standby system.

Vietnam has sold nearly900 million kWh of electricity since 2009 when the 220kV line from ChauDoc , Vietnam to Phnom Penh , Cambodia was connected. Theelectricity source provided by Vietnam has partly helped the countrystabilise its power supply for socio-economic development.

TheElectricity of Vietnam (EVN) group regularly provides electricity to Laoand Cambodian communes located near the border with Vietnam .

Vietnam continues to actively engage in a programme to establish anASEAN electricity grid and the first priorities are to link up its powergrids with Laos and Cambodia .

Under a bilateralelectricity cooperation programme, Laos expects to export 3,000 MW ofelectricity to Vietnam by 2015 and 5,000 MW by 2020. Both countrieshave started constructing transmission lines to conduct electricity fromVietnamese-invested power plants and other plants built by independentinvestors in Laos to Vietnam./.

Vietnam Airlines Group offers nearly 2.2 million discounted domestic seats

Vietnam Airlines Group, comprising Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO), will provide nearly 5.5 million seats on domestic routes from now until August 16 to meet peak summer travel demand, including around 2.2 million seats offered at promotional fares on various routes.
