Vietnam strongly supports Laos' renovation efforts: Party official

The Party, State, and people of Vietnam strongly support Laos's renovation efforts, Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Chief of its Office told Lao leaders on December 11 during his two-day visit to the country.

Vientiane (VNA) – The Party, State, and people of Vietnam strongly support Laos's renovation efforts, Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Chief of its Office, told Lao leaders on December 11 during his two-day visit to the country.

Hosted by General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone in Vientiane, Ngoc congratulated Laos on attaining significant, comprehensive achievements after nearly 40 years of renovation and fulfilling its responsibilities as ASEAN Chair in 2024, contributing to maintaining solidarity and promoting cooperation within ASEAN, and enhancing Laos' role and status on the international stage.

He expressed his firm belief hat under the leadership of the LPRP, the Lao people will continue to achieve many new, greater successes in the renovation process, successfully implementing the resolutions of the 11th Party Congress and successfully organising the Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 12th National Parry Congress.

He affirmed Vietnam attaches importance and gives the highest priority to consolidating and strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Laos.

The development of Vietnam-Laos relations is a strategic task of vital significance to the revolutionary cause, national building and safeguarding of each country, he said, adding Vietnam will do its utmost with Laos to maintain and nurture the relationship, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

The Vietnamese official briefed the Lao leaders on the recent situation in Vietnam, the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th CPV Congress, preparations for the congress for the new tenure; the realisation of the high-level Vietnam-Laos agreements, as well as the results of his talks with the Office of the LPRP Central Committee.

He emphasised that the two committees will continue to coordinate closely in implementing the resolutions of each Party; increase the exchange of information and experience in their work; and effectively implement their signed cooperation agreement.

Thongloun Sisoulith and Sonexay Siphandone congratulated Vietnam on its significant achievements made recently and expressed their confidence that under the leadership of the CPV, the Vietnamese people will continue to reap many new and greater successes in the renovation process, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress.

They expressed their delight with the increasingly growing Vietnam-Laos relationship, which brings practical benefits to the people of both countries, with contributions from the two Party Central Committees' offices.

They requested the two offices continue to coordinate closely and effectively, and enhance their role in preserving and nurturing the Vietnam-Laos relationship.

Earlier, on December 10 afternoon, Ngoc held talks with his Lao counterpart Thongsalith Mangnomek. The two sides informed each other about the situation of each Party and country, the cooperation between the two Parties and countries, and the activities of their offices.

They evaluated the cooperation results between the two offices, and shared experience regarding research and consultation, and discuss focuses for cooperation in 2025 as well as other matters of mutual interest.

Ngoc and Thongsalith jointly announced and published the yearbook on activities celebrating the Vietnam-Laos friendship year in 2022 in Khammuon province.

On this occasion, authorised by the State President of Vietnam, Ngoc and his deputy Pham Gia Tuc awarded medals and orders to Lao collectives and individuals for their contributions to the cooperative relations between the two offices during the 2017-2022 period./.
