Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and his delegation on November 30 visited Holland’s cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam to learn the localities’ experience and technologies in managing dykes as well as water and waste treatment plants.
This is part of the efforts to realise agreements adopted by the Vietnam – Holland Inter-Governmental Committee on climate change adaptation and water management.
During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the dyke systems protecting the two cities, the Neeltje Jans park in Rotterdam and technologies used in water processing and treatment system in Amsterdam .
During his meeting with Mayor of Amsterdam Eberhard Van der Laan, the Deputy PM confirmed that the Vietnamese Government encourages the two countries’ cities and localities to cooperate in economics, trade and investment.
The Deputy PM applauded the plan of Mayor Eberhard Van der Laan to visit Vietnam in 2013 on the occasion of the 40 th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.
He hoped the Mayor would discuss with leaders of Hanoi cooperative programmes, particular in the fields of water management, energy, waste treatment, environment, education and urban planning.
The Mayor affirmed that he always supports cooperation between Amsterdam and Vietnamese cities.
As part of his tour to Holland, Deputy PM Hai also visited Royal Petroleum Group and Damen Shipyards Group, and witnessed the signing of a ship building contract between Vietnam’s Song Thu Company and Damen Shipyards Group.-VNA
