Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) shared experiences and advanced technology applicable to agriculture with Vietnam at a working session in Tokyo, Japan, on Dec. 13.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Linh Ngoc, was reported of experiences in agricultural and rural development policy making and issues related to the implementation of these policies and management.

The Japanese agency also shared experiences in applying advanced technology to agricultural production in an effort to improve rural living standards and reduce the gap of development between urban and rural areas.

JICA Vice President Izumi Arai welcomed the Vietnamese delegation, saying his agency was willing to meet the guests’ goals, including experiences in the protection of natural resources and environment.

JICA is ready to boost cooperation with Vietnam in successfully implementing Japanese-funded development projects in order to reduce poverty and improve rural living standards, said Arai.

He also recommended initiatives that may help Vietnam address outstanding problems, thus contributing to strengthening the Southeast Asian nation’s capacity in policy making and enforcement.

For his part, the Vietnamese head delegate lauded Japanese experiences that his delegation drew in the visit, saying they would contribute to economic development in Vietnam as well as to the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan .

During its stay in Japan, the Vietnamese delegation will hold a working session with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, some scientific and technological research centres, the Yokohama quarantine centre, the Kyushyu University, several leading groups in agricultural machinery and equipment and several farm produce processing establishments./.
