On March 14th, the National Livestock Institute (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) officially announced the results of a study on the successful cloning of pigs by nuclear transfer of ear tissue somatic cells. Accordingly, four piglets were born healthy and well developed from this technology.

The advantage of this method is that it is easy to manipulate when transplanting "donor cells," creating many embryos in a short time. On the other hand, the transfer of 5-6 day old pig embryos has increased the conception rate from 24% (which is the world average) to 61%.

In Vietnam, the pig breed is almost extinct./.
