On addressing theevent’s opening ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son, whois also Director of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese,emphasised the special attention the Party and State pay to youngoverseas Vietnamese.
The summer camp, which willrun until August 4 and is called “flying dragon country”, will be anexcellent opportunity for young Vietnamese people who live, work orstudy overseas to meet with one another, improve their mother tongue andfind out more about their homeland’s history, culture, traditions andthe Party and State’s policies, he said.
Theevent was opened with a special music programme given by young overseasVietnamese.
Following the ceremony, theparticipants toured Independence Hall, Nha Rong Wharf and placesof historical interest that are associated with the country’s paststruggles for independence.
During their timeunder canvas, the campers will meet with many young people from sixcities and provinces across the country and attend the commemoration offallen war martyrs in the southern province of Tay Ninh as well asa cultural week before the celebrations for the 1,000 th anniversaryof Thang Long-Hanoi./.
