Vietnam will send three tennis players to attend the ViTAR-INCENTRA Open 2014, which is being held by the Vietnam Tennis Association in the Russian Federation (ViTAR) from June 7-8 in Moscow.

According to the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF), the representatives are Le Quoc Khanh, Lam Quang Tri and Pham Minh Tuan, who have a good reputation in the sport in Vietnam.

The sixth event of its kind, this year’s tournament will bring together overseas Vietnamese people living in many countries and territories over the world.

The event aims to raise funds for welfare programmes back in Vietnam. The organisers collected 6,000 USD during the last year’s event, which was donated to the Fund for Homeland Sea and Islands.

VTF Vice President and General Secretary, Nguyen Quoc Ky, praised the activities of ViTAR in promoting tennis playing for Vietnamese people in Russia and Europe in recent years.

Practice and competition abroad will help improve Vietnamese athletes’ competence, Ky added.-VNA
