Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has stated that the Government of Vietnam will do its best to foster the Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) strategic cooperative partnership by effectively implementing agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders.

Meeting RoK President Park Geun-hye in Hanoi on September 9, PM Dung hailed the great potential of bilateral cooperation, particularly in economics, trade, investment and labour.

He suggested the two sides further boost cooperation in national defence-security, trade, investment and tourism, apart from completing negotiations for a free trade agreement and making it easier for Vietnamese goods to enter the RoK market.

According to him, the two sides also need to nurture links in culture, science-technology, education and training while facilitating people-to-people exchange, especially the hosting of Vietnamese guest workers in the RoK.

Vietnam expects the RoK to continue providing the country with official development assistance and encourage its firms to do business in Vietnam, said the host.

President Park Geun-hye pledged all possible support for Vietnamese goods to flow into her country.

The RoK will sign an agreement to welcome Vietnamese workers soon, as well as cement bilateral links in science-technology and national defence-security, the guest noted.

She expressed her hope that PM Dung will ask ministries and departments to effectively implement agreements reached in the joint statement signed during her visit which, she said will mark a milestone for common prosperity.

Vietnam and the RoK share far-reaching cooperation in various realms. The RoK is now Vietnam’s fourth largest trade partner, with 21 billion USD in two-way trade last year. People-to-people exchange has also fared well.-VNA
