The Vietnamese Prime Minister has approved the Ministry of Transport’s proposal to pilot the establishment of transport check-points at border crossings along the Vietnamese-Chinese borderline.
The transport check-points were proposed to stand at Lao Cai, Huu Nghi and Mong Cai border crossings.
The project is part of efforts to implement a protocol signed between the Vietnamese and Chinese governments on October 11, 2011.
The Ministry of Transport was requested to coordinate the efforts of relevant ministries and departments to organise the inspection processes at the selected border crossings in a bid to ensure the efficiency of the pilot project.
The Ministry of Transport has requested the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam and the provincial departments of transport to implement the project and create favorable conditions for trans-boundary trade.
The project progress is to be evaluated and reported after two years.-VNA
