The 19th ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) Retreat and related meetings will be held in Vietnam ’s capital city of Hanoi from March 7th to 10th.

At the 19th AEM Retreat, economic ministers from 10 ASEAN member countries and the ASEAN Secretary General will focus their discussions on important initiatives and concrete directions for 2013 to boost the intra-regional economic integration and a vision toward the establishment of the ASEAN economic community by 2015, according to the event’s official web http://aemretreat19.vn .

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the 19th AEM Retreat will be held along with the 3 rd ASEAN-EU Business Summit (AEBS), which is expected to see the signing of a revised protocol on some of ASEAN economic agreements relating to goods trading and another protocol on the process of amendment or changing the reserved commitments.

Participants at the 3rd AEBS will discuss the formation of a private-public dialogue forum with the participation of ASEAN economic ministers, the EU Trade High Commissioner, and business communities of the two regions. They will also table in-depth issues relating to business operation, regulations as well as cooperation potential between the two blocs.

On this occasion, the 12th AEM-EU Trade Commissioner Consultations will also be organised to put forth initiatives to strengthen economic cooperation, facilitate trade and investment between the two regions.-VNA
