The fifth Asia-Pacific Bonsai Festival will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 5-8, according to the Saigon Giai Phong (Saigon Liberated) newspaper.

President of the Vietnam Ornamental Creatures Association Vo Van Cuong said the event will take place at a Japanese cultural park in Xuan Thoi Dong commune in the city’s Hoc Mon district.

As many as 614 bonsai works, including stone and wood carving, calligraphy and many kinds of bonsai, will be exhibited in the park, with 390 already entered into the competition, Cuong said.

According to the association, visitors will be able to watch local and international artisans use different bonsai making techniques and engage with bonsai experts from around the world.

The Asia-Pacific Bonsai Festival is held biennially for the Asia-Pacific Bonsai Friendship Federation (ABFF) members Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Taiwan (China), Vietnam, Singapore and the Philippines.

This year’s festival will see artisans from France, India, Italy, the US and the Czech Republic.-VNA
