Vietnam will hold its first ever International Choir Festival and Competition (VICC 1) in Hoi An city in the central province of Quang Nam from March 16-19, said Deputy Director of the Vietnam Opera and Ballet Theatre Pham Hong Hai on February 9.
To date, 36 choirs with more than 1,000 artists from eight nations and territories, including Indonesia , the Philippines , Singapore , Hong Kong ( China ), Sri Lanka , Malaysia , Estonia and Vietnam have registered for the event.
The opening performance will be held on March 16 on a floating stage at the Hoai River Square and the contesting choirs will compete in 13 categories and perform at eight venues across Hoi An City.
VICC 1 is jointly organised by the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Nam province and the Germany-based Interkultur organisation./.
