Vietnam are to host next year's ASEAN Football Federation Women's Championship.
The games are expected to begin in May in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of eight teams.
The teams are to be divided into two groups.
The hosts will be in Group B with Myanmar, Malaysia and the Philippines. While Group A consists of Thailand, Australia, Indonesia and Laos.
Teams will compete in a round robin format at the group stage, with the two best teams advancing to the semi-finals.
According to the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA)’s latest rankings, Vietnam’s national women’s football team remain world No. 34.
The team made an impressive jump to fourth place in the 17th Asian Games in September in Incheon, the Republic of Korea.
With 1,630 points, Vietnam ranked second in the Southeast Asian region. World No. 31 Thailand took the lead with 1,651 points while world No. 44 Myanmar came third with 1,530 points.-VNA
