Vietnam to receive 60 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine in 2021
Vietnam is expected to secure 60 million doses in 2021 as the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) initiative and AstraZeneca has committed 30 million doses to the country.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam thanked countries, international organisations and individuals for their support to Vietnam in the COVID-19 fight at a ceremony in Hanoi on April 1 to receive first 811,200 doses of COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine from COVAX Facility.
The Border Guard Command of the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap, in collaboration with the Military Hospital 120, on April 3 began COVID-19 vaccinations for its officers and soldiers.
Many countries worldwide have now introduced “vaccine passports” - an electronic document proving a person has been vaccinated against COVID-19. In Vietnam, the measure is expected to give a boost to the tourism sector, which has been devastated by the pandemic.
