Vietnam bagged a total of 10 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze medals to triumph at the 47th Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships which wrapped up in Ho Chi Minh City on September 1.

It was followed by Thailand and India.

Notably, with a gold medal in the men’s 55kg category, Hercules Pham Van Mach has gone down in history of Vietnam’s bodybuilding, raising his Asian gold medal collection to eight and overtaking his predecessor Ly Duc.

Other Vietnamese gold winners at the event included Nguyen Van Lam in the men’s 65kg, Nguyen Anh Thong in the men’s 60kg, Nguyen Van My in the men’s junior 60kg, Pham Duc Dai in the men’s junior 70kg, Tran Thi Cam Tu in the women’s under 155 cm fitness, Trinh Phi Hung in the men’s 55-60 age category, Nguyen Kim Hung in the men’s under 1m60 fitness, and Truong Quoc Long in the men’s under 1m65 fitness.

This year’s tournament attracted more than 350 athletes from 27 countries and territories across Asia, including China, Iran, India, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Mongolia, Jordan and host Vietnam.

They competed for 36 sets of medals for both men and women in fitness physique, model physique, athletic physique, and various weight and age categories for bodybuilding.-VNA
