One hundred Nigerians are attending a one-year sailor training course at Bach Nghe College in the northern port city of Hai Phong, which started in early August.
Under an agreement signed between the college and the Nigerian government-funded young human resources fund, the trainees will learn theory mainly in the first 10 months of the course.
Later, they will enjoy practice lessons on a simulation ship at the Vietnam Ocean Ship Joint Stock Company (Vosco) before going out to the sea for a month.
Vu Duc Lap, the college’s rector, said this is the first time his college has provided lectures in English for foreign students.
The college will receive another 100 Nigerian students and also plans to train sailors from other countries in the future.-VNA
