Vietnam treasures partnership with Azerbaijan

Vietnam treasures its traditional friendship with Azerbaijan, said a Vietnamese diplomat.
Vietnam treasures its traditional friendship with Azerbaijan, saidVietnamese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Nguyen Thanh Son on April 20.

During his working session with Azerbaijani high-level officials inBaku, Son expressed his hope that the two nations would enhancecooperation in their respective advantageous fields, such as oil and gasexploration and processing, education and training, and tourism.

The upcoming visit of Vietnamese State President Truong Tan Sang tothe country aims to bring bilateral ties between Vietnam and Azerbaijanto a new height, Son reiterated.

Meanwhile, thehosting representatives affirmed that Vietnam is a priority Asianpartner of Azerbaijan, highlighting the two nations’ mutualunderstanding and shared viewpoint on many international issues.

They underlined the huge potential and favourable conditions forpromoting bilateral ties between the two countries, especially ineconomics and trade, as well as the mutual support in the internationalarena.

Vietnam and Azerbaijan set up diplomatic ties in 1950. Azerbaijan opened its Embassy in Hanoi in 2013.

The two countries have maintained regular high-level delegationexchanges as well as bilateral meetings on the margin of regional andinternational forums. President Ilham Aliyev visited Vietnam last Mayand Party Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party CentralCommittee Le Hong Anh toured Azerbaijan in October of the same year.

Last year, trade reached 422.4 million USD,nearly 15 times the figure of 2012. Vietnam mainly exported mobilephones, computers, electronic spare parts, wooden products and seafoodto Azerbaijan, while importing crude oil and petrol.

Oil and gas is the key pillar in bilateral cooperation, with VietnamNational Oil and Gas Group opening a representative office in Azerbaijanin 2010.

About 40 Vietnamese nationals are currently working or studying in Azerbaijan.-VNA

According to historical records, the area once served as an operational base for units of Regiments 609, 66, 24 and 320, as well as staff and logistics agencies of the Central Highlands front (B3) during the 1966–1969 period. Between 2020 and 2025, the corps had already recovered remains from 46 martyrs in the Chu Pa mountain area.
