Vietnam will do its utmost to preserve and develop its traditional relationship with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) for the benefit of the two nations and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.

To Huy Rua, Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, and Chief of the Commission for Information and Training, made the statement while receiving a delegation from the Workers’ Party of the DPRK--led by Kim Thae Jong, Vice Director of the International Affairs Department of the Party’s Central Committee-- which is on a Vietnam visit from September 29 to October 4.

He expressed his belief that the ties between the two Parties’ commissions for external relations will see new and effective developments, helping boost relations between the two Parties, two States and two peoples.

For his part, the DPRK guest said he was pleased with the great achievements that the Vietnamese people have attained during their national construction and defence.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the CPV, the Vietnamese people will overcome difficulties resulting from the global economic crisis to successfully implement the 10th Party Congress’s resolutions.

He also expressed his pleasure at the continuously developing bilateral relationship, which was marked by Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh’s visit to the DPRK in October 2007.

He affirmed the DPRK’s policy to attach importance to further developing the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam .

During its stay in Vietnam , the DPRK delegation met with Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan and held talks with a Vietnamese delegation led by Pham Xuan Son, Vice Head of the Commission.

The delegation worked with the Nhan Dan (People’s) daily newspaper and the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association as well as visiting the north eastern province of Quang Ninh./.
