Vietnam values its strategic partnership with Japan and looks forward to a strong commitment by the new government to accelerating the relationship.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet made the statement while receiving the visiting President of the Japan Business Federation (Nippon Keidanren), Fujio Mitarai, in Hanoi on December 4.

The State leader thanked Nippon Keidanren for giving priority to Vietnam in the past, saying that it has made an important contribution to boosting economic cooperation between the two countries.

He also applauded proactive efforts by Nippon Keidanren’s Japan-Vietnam Economic Committee, especially in speeding up the implementation of the Vietnam-Japan Joint Initiative, which aims to improve the investment and business environment in Vietnam and boost the competitiveness of its businesses.

President Triet expressed his wish that Nippon Keidanren will continue to encourage Japanese enterprises to invest in Vietnam and help the country in technology transfer and human resources training.

For his part, the Nippon Keidanren leader stressed that Japan believes in the potential for developing its strategic partnership with Vietnam. The relationship is the foundation for boosting both country’s economic development, thus contributing to regional and global development, he said./.
