The Vietnamese Government will create the best possible conditions for Finnish businesses to boost investment cooperation activities in Vietnam , thus increasing trade between the two nations.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the commitment at a reception for visiting Finnish Minister for International Development Heidi Hautala in Hanoi on January 25.

He said that the visit, which takes place when the two countries are celebrating the 40 th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, will help promote the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Finland in all aspects.

He expressed his wish that the two sides will work together to boost their cooperation in politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, investment, education-training, and official development assistance (ODA).

He suggested Finland continue providing ODA for Vietnam, especially in poverty reduction, clean water and environmental hygiene, forestry, private economic development, green growth and climate change adaptation.

For her part, Heidi Hautala said her visit aims to help Finnish companies expand their investment in Vietnam, particularly in environmental and green technologies.

Vietnam is one of the time-honoured partners in Finland’s development cooperation policy, she said, expressing wish that the Vietnamese Government will create conditions for Finnish companies to invest in the country.

At the reception, Finnish business representatives pledged to increase their investment in Vietnam in such areas as consultation services, technology, renewal energy, measurement and weather monitoring.-VNA
