Vietnam wants to further ties with Czech Republic

Vietnam wishes the Czech Republic, particularly Prague to expand cooperation with Vietnam, especially in areas of their strengths, in order to bringing bilateral ties to a new height.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet expressed his desire while receiving Prague Mayor Pavel Ben in Hanoi on Oct. 9.

The Prague Mayor and a delegation of the city are in Hanoi to attend celebrations of the 1,000 th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

President Triet expressed thanks to the Czech Republic for great assistance to Vietnam during the struggle for national liberation in the past and national construction and development at present.

He also thanked the Czech Government and the Prague Mayor for creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community living there.

He said that relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic have seen fine development in many fields. The two countries’ preparations for opening a direct air route from Hanoi to Prague would contribute to boosting bilateral cooperation.

Mayor Pavel Ben congratulated Vietnam on the great anniversary of the capital city and achievements in socio-economic development in recent years.

He said though geographical distance, Prague and Hanoi are both ancient and have tradition of cultures. In Prague has a small Hanoi , where the Vietnamese community gained successes in business. The successes proved the development in Vietnam , pledging to give best conditions to Vietnamese citizens in Prague .

The Prague Mayor also said that his city has potentials in culture, education and energy as well as good experiences in urban management. Apart from trade and investment cooperation, Prague is ready to help Vietnam , especially Hanoi in areas of its strength./.
