Vietnam win seven medals at Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2018

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese students brought home one gold, four silverand two bronze medals in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2018.

With the result, Vietnam ranks third out of31 countries and territories behind China and Russia.

The gold medal was carried off by Pham DucThang from the High School for Gifted Students under National University -Hanoi.

Hoang Xuan Nhat from the High School forGifted Students under National University - HCM City, Nguyen Khanh from theHigh School for Gifted Students under National University - Hanoi, Trinh HuuGia Phuc from the Lam Son High School for Gifted Students in the centralprovince of Thanh Hoa and Nguyen Minh Tung from the High School for GiftedStudents under National University - Hanoi won silver medals.

Nguyen Hoang Hai Minh from the High Schoolfor Gifted Students under National University - Hanoi and Duong Quoc Hung fromthe Thang Long High School for Gifted Students in the Central Highlandsprovince of Lam Dong won bronze medals.

The Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2018was held online on May 13with 586 contestants from 31 countries and territories,including 15 Vietnamese students who joined the contest online at NationalUniversity - Hanoi. A total of 87 contestants won medals.

In the previous Olympiad, Vietnam won fivesilver medals and one bronze medal, finishing seventh in the medal tally.-VNA
