Vietnam grabbed two bronze medals at the World Xiangqi (Chinese chess) Championships which wrapped up in Germany on August 27.

Ho Thi Thanh Hong earned eight points after three wins, two draws and one loss in the women's singles category.

In her world championships debut, Hong ranked third after China's Qang Lin Na (11 points) and Jia Dan of the US (nine points).

The other bronze went to Trenh A Sang and Lai Ly Huynh in the men's team event.

Coach Hoang Dinh Hong of Vietnam said the result did not meet the team's target of at least a silver medal.-VNA
