Vietnam wins first medal at Asian Para Games 2014

Swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu brought the first medal to the Vietnamese team at the ongoing second Asian Para Games in Incheon, the Republic of Korea on the morning of October 19 (Vietnam time).

With a time of 1’57”57, Nhu came second in the women’s 100m breaststroke SB5 event, securing a silver medal.

China’s Song Lingling won the gold medal, while Yuri Kitamura of Japan won a bronze.

The 2 nd Asian Para Games are taking place from October 18-24 with the participation of 4,500 athletes from 41 countries.

A team of 45 Vietnamese athletes will compete in six out of 23 categories, namely track-and-field, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis and bowling. It intends to win 6-9 gold medals and rank 15 th in the medals table./.
