Asian Games silver medallist Thach Kim Tuan bagged a gold medal at the International Weightlifting Federation’s (IWF) World Championships 2014 in Kazakhstan on November 8.
Tuan successfully lifted 135kg in the snatch in the men’s 56kg weight category, defeating two Chinese weightlifters, Li Fabin and Long Qingquan, who made respective lift of 134kg and 133kg.
The Ho Chi Minh City-born athlete pocketed a silver medal in the clean and jerk lifting 161kg and another one for his total lift of 296kg.
The 2014 IWF World Championships is underway from November 8-16 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The event will select weightlifters for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.-VNA
