Hanoi, (VNA) - Vietnam finished the Asian Nations Cup chess tournament with team silver and bronze medals in the blitz chess event on April 7 in the United Arab Emirates.

The four-member Vietnamese team grabbed three wins over Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh and Iraq to enter the semi-final match.

In the semifinals, Vietnam defeated India before losing to China in the final match.

The Vietnamese women moved to the knock-out round after two wins, two draws and one loss. They then lost to China in the semifinals to win a bronze medal.

As for individual prizes, Nguyen Thi Thanh An took another gold after topping the blitz event at women’s board 5. Her teammate Hoang Thi Bao Tram triumphed at board 2.

Nguyen Minh Huy won at men’s board 5.

Le Quang Liem grabbed his gold at men’s table 1, jumping to No. 33 in the world rankings. Earlier this week, Liem led Webster University to win the College Chess Final Four tournament for the fourth time in a row.
