Host Vietnam bagged two gold medals on April 17 -- the first day of the 2010 Hanoi International Judo Tournament.

Van Ngoc Tu won the first gold for Vietnam in the women’s under-48kg event, while the other gold medal was secured by Huynh Nhat Thong in the men’s under-55kg category.

Vietnamese artists had advanced to seven out of eight finals on the day, but five of them lost their games to rivals from the Republic of Korea (RoK).

Experts said the host athletes are likely to take more gold medals on the last day of the tourney, which has drawn the participation of 110 artists, including 53 from the RoK, Laos , Hong Kong , Germany and France./.
