General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong has emphasised Vietnam’s policy of boosting its strategic partnership with India.

While receiving newly-accredited Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Shrimati Preeti Saran in Hanoi on November 15, the Party chief said Vietnam and India share a traditional friendship, abundant values and many areas of mutual interest.

He underscored Vietnam’s support to India in the country’s national construction in order to foster an India of prosperity, democracy and development, earning it an enhanced position on the regional and global stage.

Wishing the new Indian Ambassador a successful working term in Vietnam, he said he hopes the diplomat will make practical contributions to the further development of Vietnam-India ties.

General Secretary Trong also hailed the ambassador efforts and active coordination with the Vietnamese side to make good preparations for his upcoming visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, which is expected to contribute to further strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership.

In reply, the Indian Ambassador shared her good impression of Vietnam and its people, as well as the country’s renewal achievements under the leadership of the CPV.

She said that India is actively finalising preparations to welcome General Secretary Trong and the CPV high-ranking delegation, stressing her belief that the visit will be a important milestone for both sides.

She also confirmed that during her office tenure, she will do her utmost to make positive contributions to beefing up the strategic partnership between the two countries in all realms.-VNA
