The fifth dialogue on regional security between Vietnam and Australia was held in Hanoi on August 21.

The dialogue was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Dao Viet Trung and Australian Deputy Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Miles Kupa.

Representatives from public security, national defence and foreign affairs ministries from the two countries attended the event.

The two sides expressed pleasure at the development of the two countries’ relations in politics, economics, trade, investment, security, national defence, education, culture and tourism over the past time.

The two sides agreed to further boost cooperation in those fields in order to bring bilateral relations to a new height.

They exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern and cooperation at multilateral forums, including the UN.

They also agreed to accelerate the exchange of information, experiences and cooperation in solving challenges to regional and international security, including terrorism, human trafficking and trans-national crime for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world./.
