Overseas Vietnamese, who used to study in the former German democratic Republic ( East Germany ) on Nov. 28 met at the culture school in Lichtenberg district, Berlin.

The meeting was part of the “Week of Activities on Vietnam ” held between Nov. 16-30 by the Lichtenberg Culture Association in coordination with the Lichtenberg/Brandenburg Overseas Vietnamese Association to mark 35 th anniversary of the Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations.

Lichtenberg Governor Chritina Emmrich and several German officials and friends attended the event.

Addressing the meeting, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany Pham Van Toan hailed the event, describing it as an opportunity for Vietnamese alumni and students, who are studying in Germany , to share experiences in studying and living abroad.

Vietnamese Counsellor to Germany Nguyen Minh Vu thanked Lichtenberg authorities for creating favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese living in the district to integrate well in the local community.

Participants to the meeting agreed that Vietnamese students in Germany serve as key factor for relations between Vietnamese community and local authorities as well as activities of other fields.

During the Week of Activities on Vietnam , exhibitions of photos and documents on 20 years Vietnam-former German Democratic Republic labour cooperation and overseas Vietnamese’s lives in Germany./.
