Vietnamese artists play in Asian Young Orchestra

The two young talented artists, from the Vietnam National Academy of Music are to present at AYO’s performance in Vietnam at Hanoi Opera House on August 15-16, which forms part of its tour which includes Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan.

Under the baton of conductors Richard Pontzious and James Judd, the orchestra, together with US violist Stefan Jackiw, will entertain audiences with classical masterpieces by famous composers like Prokofiev, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak and Rachmaninoff.

AYO is made up of 100 talented artists, who have been chosen annually by auditions from the most excellent music students from China, Hong Kong, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Each summer, the orchestra gets together for six weeks, initially a three-week Summer Festival (Rehearsal Camp), and then goes on tours with international soloists for the remaining three weeks.

Since its debut in 1987, the orchestra has made over 300 concerts across Asia, Europe, the US, Australia for more than one million audiences. Millions of audiences around the world also watched and heard their performances on international television channels./.
