Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - A group of artists from Vietnam known as Art Labour and Joan Jonas will attend the 57th Carnegie International at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, the US.

The exhibition will run from October 13, 2018 until March 25, 2019, focusing on the idea of the “international”, with works by 32 artists and collectives from all over the world including Australia, the UK, the US, Japan, Pakistan and Palestine. The event will gather names such as Yuji Agematsu, El Anatsui, Huma Bhabha, Mel Bochner, Mimi Cherono Ng’ok, Sarah Crowner, Alex Da Corte and Lucy Skaer.

The Carnegie Museum of Art was established in 1896 and has since been a rendezvous point for contemporary artists from around the world.

The Art Labour group was formed in 2012 by painters Thao Nguyen and Cong Tung and curator Arlette Quynh-Anh Tran.

Jonas, based in New York, is a famed artist in performance and video art. She has coordinated with Art Labour on various projects.

Art Labour, based in HCM City, work between visual arts and social and life sciences in order to produce alternative non-formal knowledge via artistic and cultural activities in various public contexts. 

The collective has worked with an array of collaborators including anthropologists, filmmakers, curators, writers, archivists, artists, ophthalmologists, patients and farmers.VNS/VNA
