The Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) on June 9 held a seminar on Lao market for Vietnamese businesses, with the aim of contributing to expanding trade cooperation between the two countries.

At the event, over 70 local small and medium-sized enterprises learned about Lao regulations on establishing distribution systems and incentive policies for investment, as well as market demand in Laos.

The event also saw the presence of speakers from successful Vietnamese businesses in Laos, who answered relevant questions and shared their experience in trading in this country.

The participating businesses mainly operated in production and trade of household utensils, foodstuff, electronic equipment, construction materials and agro-forestry-fishery products.

Last year, two-way trade reached almost 500 million USD and Vietnam exported 198.4 million USD worth of goods to Laos, a year-on-year rise of 17.2 percent.

The two countries plan to raise bilateral trade to two billion USD by 2015./.
