A senior Cambodian official has expressed her wish that ties between the women’s associations of Cambodia and Vietnam will go from strength to strength, following a meeting with Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa in Hanoi on June 17.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam On, who also heads the Women for Peace and Development Association (WPDA), said she appreciates the VWU for its assistance in training female cadres.

Without the enthusiastic and valuable support of the Vietnamese Party, Government and people, Cambodia would be unable to enjoy the fruits of growth as it does now, she noted.

Hoa informed her guest that both the VWU and WPDA have regularly shared information via different channels since they signed the 2013-2017 cooperation agreement last January, adding that more women have become aware of the enduring Vietnam – Cambodia friendship.

Coordination between women living in border cities and provinces has come a long way via a series of practical activities, she said.

In her words, more needs to be done to realise the agreement. However, she pledged that the Vietnamese community in Cambodia will enjoy all possible support from the host country.

On the occasion, a workshop was held to discuss the partnership between the two associations.-VNA
