Vietnam will compete at the World Youth Chess Championship to be held in Maribor, Slovenia from November 7-19.
The team includes Nguyen Thi Mai Hung (girl's U18), who is expected to bring home the bacon as she seeds No 5 in her group with an Elo rating of 2235. She has won Asian gold medals in U14 and U16 categories.
The event will use the Swiss system of 11 rounds. A total of 1,587 young players will participate in the age categories.
It is the most important youth chess event of the year, and is expected to draw young world-class talents.-VNA
