Vietnamese child pianist wins first prize in Thailand

Quach Hoang Nhi, a nine-year-old Vietnamese girl won the first prize at the 3rd Mozart International Piano Competition in Bangkok, Thailand on July 25.

After four days of competition, Nhi topped 22 candidates in group D (7-9 age group), who came from the US, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines.

Having studied the piano for nearly five years, Nhi have won several international and local prizes, especially the gold award at the music festival held in Cheonan, the Republic of Korea in August 2012.

Nguyen Kieu Anh, another member of the Vietnamese team also made it to the final round of group A, which included candidates aged between 18 and 24.-VNA
